International Women's day March 8

International Women's Day is March 8, a day when women are recognized for their achievements without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political.

A day on which, in many countries around the world, the achievements of women are highlighted. A day where we recognize the work that has been done so far and all the work that’s still needed to be done. A day on which we imagine a gender equal world and strive for it. A world free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination. A world that’s diverse, equitable and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated.

Together we can forge women’s equality. Collectively we can all #InspireInclusion.

SOLID

At Solid, we have been celebrating women’s achievement from the start. Our goal, in everything that we do, is to empower women, to provide them with sustainable jobs and support their communities in every way we can. Solid helps youngsters, women and families to build a solid foundation for their own future! By giving them training, fair employment or by helping them build social skills, parenting skills and most of all by believing in their potential to grow.

We choose to work with women from disadvantaged rural communities, with limited access to resources, seeking to present their skills and talents to the world. Individual coaching and social workshops are part of the work environment, because we know that supporting our artisans means uplifting the communities they live in.

We won’t use this article to persuade you to buy. But do know that as a consumer, you have the power to change things. When you buy from a brand that cares about their workers, all the way down the production chain, you contribute to an impact for good. Where you spend your money, shows what matters to you. So when you’re not sure how to make a difference as an individual (don’t we all), it’s a great place to start. It will make a difference.

You do have the power to help make a difference in the world.

VISITING OUR ARTISANS IN RANCHI, INDIA

The Solid team spend some time in New Delhi, India for the Bharrat Tex fair just a few weeks ago. So naturally, we took the opportunity to visit some of our artisans in their home village Ranchi. To feel connected with them and their way of life. To see the impact of what we do firsthand.

A warm visit after which we returned home with an even stronger belief in what we do: empowering these women to become even stronger than they already are.
